Corona Virus - Two-Jar DIY Simple Prevention Method

Last week I was talking to a neighbour who told me that he suffers from a chest condition. He was worried about the Covid 19, Corona Virus.

I wanted to help him but when I went to buy disinfectant wipes, I found that I was buying the last two packets of disinfecting wipes in the pharmacy.

There were only eight wipes in each packet. These wipes cannot be recycled and would normally be thrown away after one use. So, clearly, they weren't going to last very long and would end up in landfill for future generations to deal with.

We all know that to beat the virus it's vital that we keep our hands free of germs to protect ourselves and others.
However, disinfectant and wipes may become expensive or, even, impossible to buy.

So, I put together this simple disinfection method, which I gave to my neighbour, and which I've set out below.
If we all take such preventative measures we can collectively delay the spread of the Corona Virus

Delaying the spread of the Corona Virus will ease the pressure on our hospitals so that those who need intensive care will get the full attention they need.

We all know someone who is at risk.
So, let's work together to beat this virus.

The Two-Jar Solution is one simple procedure we can follow to protect ourselves and others.

THE TWO-JAR SOLUTION

Items you will need:

two jars with lids,

cloth,

disinfectant,

water.

What to do:

1) Cut the cloth into 6 inch squares.

2) Fill Jar No. 1 with water till it is three-quarters full.

3) Add half of one eggcup-full of Milton or similar liquid disinfectant.

4) Add wipes to jar.

5) When the wipes are soaked pour the liquid from Jar No. 1 into Jar No 2
while keeping the soaked wipes in Jar No. 1.

6) Close the lids on Jar No. 1 and Jar No. 2.

Keep both jars in your car, workplace or home.

When visiting shops, and places where your hands might pick up germs,
keep your hands away from your face,
so that you won’t inhale any germs.

When you return to your car / home/ workplace:

1) take a wipe from Jar No. 1

2) clean your hands.

3) Clean everything you have touched since reaching your car/home/workplace,

For example:
in the car:
clean the outside, and the lid, of Jar No. 1,
the steering wheel,
the car keys,
the inside door handle,
the outside door handle,
the rear door/ boot/ trunk handle.

4) Put the used wipe into Jar No 2 (which contains the water / disinfectant.)

5) Close the lids of both jars.

Repeat these actions every time you visit places where you might pick up germs on your hands.

So, every time you use a wipe, you move the wipe from Jar No. 1 to Jar No. 2 (which contains the water / disinfectant.).

When all the wipes have been moved to Jar No. 2,

1) pour the water/disinfectant from Jar No. 2 into Jar No. 1
while keeping the wipes in Jar No. 2.

2) Close the lids.

Now, use the soaked wipes from Jar. No 2 to clean your hands, and anything that you may have touched after visiting shops, or any places where your hands might have picked up germs.

Continue to use the wipes in this manner, moving the wipes and disinfectant from one jar to the other.
Add extra water and disinfectant when necessary.

Please share this, and other helpful suggestions, with others.

Thanks.
